Inspirado nas mem\u00f3rias do pianista, o filme mostra o surgimento do Gueto de Vars\u00f3via, quando os alem\u00e3es constru\u00edram muros para encerrar os judeus em algumas \u00e1reas, e acompanha a persegui\u00e7\u00e3o que levou \u00e0 captura e envio da fam\u00edlia de Szpilman para os campos de concentra\u00e7\u00e3o.
