Tem 70 m. de di\u00e2metro e 30 m. de profundidade. N\u00e3o \u00e9 um vulc\u00e3o. Em 1971 ge\u00f3logos russos fizeram uma escava\u00e7\u00e3o no local em busca de petr\u00f3leo e gas. A certa profundidade foi encontrado um imenso dep\u00f3sito de gas t\u00f3xico, e os ge\u00f3logos decidiram queim\u00e1-lo, pensando que a chama se extinguiria em poucos dias.
