Foi formado sobre uma falha geol\u00f3gica, onde ocorrem cerca de 3.000 pequenos tremores por ano. Nos \u00faltimos 30 anos teve 6 tremores de 9-10 pontos. A \u00e1gua \u00e9 muito fria, no ver\u00e3o chega no m\u00e1ximo a 14\u00b0C na superf\u00edcie, e abaixo dela n\u00e3o passa de 5\u00b0C. A \u00e1gua \u00e9 l\u00edmpida, com alto teor de oxig\u00eanio, e permite uma visibilidade de at\u00e9 60 ms. de profundidade. Todo cercado por montanhas e serras, \u00e9 grandioso.
