Era uma fortifica\u00e7\u00e3o em pedra e madeira, com 118 km. de extens\u00e3o, 4,5 m. de altura e 2,5 m. de largura, contendo torres de observa\u00e7\u00e3o e quart\u00e9is para as tropas de guarni\u00e7\u00e3o. No alto havia uma estrada para fins de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o e transporte. Foi a mais extensa estrutura constru\u00edda por Roma, e \u00e9 patrim\u00f4nio da humanidade.
