Ele entrou num mosteiro na juventude, mas impedido de seguir a vida religiosa por causa de uma doen\u00e7a, come\u00e7ou a construir a catedral em terras que havia herdado, com a ajuda espor\u00e1dica de familiares ou de quem visitava a constru\u00e7\u00e3o, utilizando materiais descartados em outras obras. O absurdo da hist\u00f3ria \u00e9 que ele n\u00e3o \u00e9 pedreiro, n\u00e3o concluiu o ensino b\u00e1sico, n\u00e3o \u00e9 engenheiro e nem nada, apenas viu em livros como eram constru\u00eddas as igrejas e castelos  g\u00f3ticos. Ele tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o tem financiamento algum, apenas recebe doa\u00e7\u00f5es dos visitantes ou vai vendendo partes de suas terras.
