Robert Alexander (Michael Brandon), o general que comandava os batalh\u00f5es na regi\u00e3o, queria tanto ocupar aquele setor que aceitava o fato de que um ataque naquelas condi\u00e7\u00f5es provocaria v\u00e1rias baixas. Whittlesey considerava isto um total suic\u00eddio, mas o general lhe promete apoio e diz que tropas francesas v\u00e3o apoiar os flancos.
